COVID-19 Youth Health Information Act Information about Assembly Bill 856: Pupil Health: COVID-19 Youth Information Act.
As students return to school, it is important to determine how to ensure a safe return to classrooms and activities, including exercise and physical activities. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), “Approximately 35 to 45 million youth six to eighteen years of age participate in some form of athletics. The COVID-19 pandemic has affected many aspects of the lives of children and families, including your sport activity.” As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, many have seen the complications it can cause. As a result of AB 856, information and guidelines regarding the safe return of students to exercise and physical activity after exhibiting signs or symptoms of, or testing positive for COVID-19 are posted to the internet for schools and educators, parents/guardians, and youth as specified in California Education Code (EC) sections 33477.3 and 33477.9.

EXPANDED LEARNING ATMOSPHERE
Top of Page

Our school is happy to offer a flexible seating environment in many of our classrooms.  Flexible seating empowers students to choose where they will work and learn how they will work best. We believe that children work best when given the opportunity to move. Flexible seating allows them to wobble, bounce, lean or stand, which increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow and builds core strength. This in turn, burns more calories and increases the metabolism. It also helps keep their minds more alert and focused. Additionally, students feel empowered by having some degree of choice and control over their environment.

HELPING STUDENTS SUCCEED

Educational Technology

Here at Reeds Creek we believe that digital devices in the hands of students can be a powerful and highly interactive tool. We are a 1:1 environment that strives to prepare students for the 21st century by providing them with the skills and opportunities they require for their future professions. Implementation of this 1:1 program focuses on providing effective and engaging instruction based on standards and curriculum using digital content, strategies, and resources that are embedded into daily curriculum. We believe students need to be producers and evaluators of knowledge, and not just consumers. In a digital age this means they need to think critically, collaborate with others, and engage in authentic, real-world tasks.

Extra-Curricular Activities

NOTE: Extra-curricular activities have been impacted by COVID Guidelines. Below explains our available activies during normal school times. We hope to continue these after COVID... We believe that kids benefit from extracurricular activities in many ways. Through a well-rounded academic program along with a rich extracurricular program, Reeds Creek’s students enjoy a variety of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Each class typically will enjoy 3-4 field trips per year. Each trip is connected to academic content being studied in the classroom. Student Athletes strive for excellence in the classroom and on the field, where they compete against other rural schools. Sports include Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball and Softball.

UNIQUE TO REEDS CREEK
Top of Page

The Reeds Creek District is one of three original districts in Tehama County with records dating back to the mid 1860’s. The current school site sits on 8 ½ rural acres just four miles outside of town and serves TK through 8th grade. Many of our school families have attended for generations and enjoy revisiting and volunteering as their grandchildren now attend the school they once did.
